Upcoming Events in Canada’s Tournament Capital

The City of Kamloops is proud to welcome a number of upcoming tournaments and events to our community. Since 2001, Kamloops has been synonymous with first-class events, a knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteer base, strong athletic showings, and a wide variety of outstanding venues. This year, from May to August alone, there are over 100 events scheduled throughout the city.

Residents are invited to enjoy come out and watch some great athletes as they compete in a variety of sports around Kamloops.

May 18–May 20, 2019 (May long weekend)

  • Kamloops Minor Baseball Association River City Classic, McArthur Island baseball diamonds - over 100 local athletes will be participating, and 325 athletes are coming in from out of town.
  • 41st Annual Kamloops Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) Slurpee Cup, McArthur Island and additional fields throughout the city - the KYSA Slurpee Cup is the longest running youth soccer tournament in BC, and will have over 2,500 participants.
  • Big O Memorial Slo-pitch Tournament, Tournament Capital Ranch - over 900 participants from all over Western Canada are taking part in this event.

May 24–May 26, 2019

  • BC Soccer Premier League Showcase, McArthur Island - over 850 participants will be competing.
  • ProHop Classic Basketball Tournament, Tournament Capital Centre - over 750 athletes from across BC and Alberta will be participating.
  • BC Regional FireFit Championships, in conjunction with the BrewLoops Spring Festival, Sandman Centre parking lot - Kamloops Fire Rescue’s FireFit team is highly decorated and has won multiple regional and national titles.
  • 6th Annual Kamloops Open Pickleball Tournament, Riverside Park pickleball courts - over 250 competitors will be competing.

The City of Kamloops created the Tournament Capital Program using the Canadian Sport Policy (CSP) as a framework. By embracing the goals of the CSP, Kamloops is seeing the results of increased participation in sport and the economic benefits of sport tourism at our first-class facilities.
