Snow Angels Program Transitions to Volunteer Kamloops

Release date:
November 8, 2017

Kamloops, BC – The Snow Angels Program is gearing up once again to assist seniors (60+) and individuals with mobility challenges by removing snow from their driveways and sidewalks. Each year, Snow Angels volunteers assist over 100 seniors and individuals with mobility challenges in Kamloops with snow removal services.
The program’s goal is to support seniors and individuals with mobility challenges to continue to live independently in their own home for as long as possible. Snow removal volunteers, the Snow Angels, are matched up with individuals for the winter season. The Snow Angels show up after each snowfall to remove the snow from driveways and sidewalks.
The program has been operated by the Oncore Seniors Society for the past five years. In the wake of Oncore’s closure, Volunteer Kamloops has taken on the program and is working hard to get it up and running quickly.
“We’re currently reviewing the list of seniors and volunteers from last year, and reaching out to see who can still be involved in the program this year,” says Debbie Smith, President of Volunteer Kamloops. “Our next priority is to fill in any gaps in our volunteer list to ensure we can support all the people in need.”
To volunteer as a Snow Angel or to register to receive services, please contact Volunteer Kamloops at 250-372-8313 or Wherever possible, volunteers will be matched with individuals who live in the same area. The number of people that can be supported by the Snow Angels Program is dependent on the number of volunteers each year.
The dedication and effort of Snow Angel volunteers is appreciated and recognized. By volunteering for the Snow Angels program, you make a big difference in the lives of seniors and help in Making Kamloops Shine!
