Kamloops, BC – Following the technical and community feedback received during Phase 3 of the KAMPLAN Review and Update process, a second draft of the Official Community Plan (OCP) is now available on the City’s website at www.kamloops.ca
At information booths, open houses, and the KAMPLAN Café events, residents expressed excitement with the direction the City is taking regarding land use, housing, economic development, transportation, parks, arts and culture, and more.
To see a summary of the key changes made to the draft OCP based on input obtained from the Phase 3 engagement activities, visit www.kamloops.ca/phase3.
The next steps in the process include presenting the OCP to Council for first reading on November 28, 2017, a review of the City's Five-Year Capital Plan and Liquid Waste Management Plan in conjunction with the OCP, referrals to government agencies for feedback, second and third readings at Council, and a Public Hearing. Final adoption of the OCP is anticipated in early 2018.
Once the OCP is adopted, implementation will be coordinated across all City departments. As the OCP focuses on every aspect of life in the city, implementation will also involve working with the community and the private sector. City staff will annually monitor and evaluate to assess how well the City is doing in achieving the OCP's goals.
Stay tuned to the City's website for updates later this year. If you have a question or would like to provide a comment, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
