Property Taxes Due Today - Tuesday, July 2 - Pay On Time To Avoid a Penalty

Release date:
July 2, 2019

It’s deadline day for this year’s property taxes.

Property taxes and Home Owner Grant applications are due today. Homeowners who haven’t paid yet are urged to do so today as a 10% penalty will be applied as of tomorrow, July 3.

Home Owner Grants that are not claimed are considered equivalent to unpaid taxes and are subject to the 10% penalty.

Home Owner Grants can be claimed online at Kamloops.ca/eHOG.

Revenue and Taxation Manager Cara Dawson said there are several ways to pay property taxes today.

“People can come into City Hall or the Tournament Capital Centre today between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm,” Dawson said.

“They can also pay in person at their bank, or by telephone or online banking,” Dawson said, although she noted that payments made today through financial institutions may not be received by the City in time to avoid a penalty.”

Drop boxes are also available today at City Hall (24 hours), the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC hours), and the North Shore Community Policing Office at 915 7th Street (8:00am–noon and 1:00–4:00pm).
