Kamloops, BC—The City of Kamloops has calculated the 2024 taxes for property owners following Council’s approval of the tax rates on May 14, 2024. Kamloops homeowners will start receiving their 2024 property tax notices this week. Those who have opted to receive e-bills should watch for their email notice arriving soon. Property taxes and Home Owner Grant applications are due on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. A 10% penalty for late payments or late grant applications will apply as of July 3.
City Hall will be open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, for in-person tax payment. Residents can also use City Hall’s 24/7 exterior dropbox. Given the extent of ongoing construction downtown, the City is encouraging residents to consider the many alternatives to visiting City Hall for tax payment this year.
Residents can pay their taxes in person at the Tournament Capital Centre from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. They can also deposit a cheque at any of the other three dropbox locations, which are located inside and accessible during facility hours:

- North Shore Community Policing Office - 915 7th Street
- Westsyde Pool and Fitness Centre - 859 Bebek Road
Another option is to pay property taxes online. Payments can be made at Kamloops.ca/Payment with a Visa or Mastercard. Please note that a non-refundable 1.75% service fee will apply on credit card payments. Residents may also choose to pay their property taxes using online banking.
The City is once again adding evening service hours at City Hall: 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on June 24 through June 28 and on July 2. Please note that City Hall will be closed on Monday, July 1, for the Canada Day holiday.
“We began offering extended hours at City Hall during tax season last year and want to continue to provide as many options as possible to make life easier for residents,” said Norman Thompson, the City’s Taxation Manager. “That said, we want to make sure all residents are aware of the traffic disruptions and limited parking around City Hall this year due to the city centre sanitary upgrades along Lansdowne Street.”
There are many convenient alternatives for taxpayers who want to avoid downtown at this time. Those who choose to visit City Hall should plan ahead and know the detour and parking options, which are outlined on the City’s engagement website at LetsTalk.Kamloops.ca/CapitalProjects/CityCentre.
Residents should also remember that they must apply for their Home Owner Grants through the Province. As of 2021, municipalities can no longer accept applications. Home Owner Grant applications are still due at the same time as property taxes, so the City strongly encourages residents to apply for their 2024 Home Owner Grants before July 2 to avoid a penalty. Residents who are experiencing financial difficulties should note that Home Owner Grants can be applied for without making a tax payment, which will reduce the tax balance owing. Partial payments before the due date will also reduce the penalty incurred. Look into the BC Property Tax Deferment Program for additional support.
To sign up for e-billing for 2025 property taxes, residents can register and add their property tax account at Kamloops.ca/MyCity. Residents can also sign up for the Tax Installment Plan Service, which allows taxpayers to make monthly payments towards their 2025 property taxes. With the Tax Installment Plan Service, payments are automatically withdrawn from residents’ bank accounts. Application forms and more information are available online at Kamloops.ca/TIPS.
