The Annual Teddy Bear/Mother Goose Picnic will take place at Riverside Park on Thursday, June 13. This free family event is hosted in partnership with the City of Kamloops, Kamloops Community YM/YWCA, Kamloops Child Care Resource and Referral, Kamloops Early Language and Literacy Initiative (KELLI), School District No. 73, and the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library.
The Teddy Bear/Mother Goose Picnic is the wrap up celebration for KELLI’s Parent-Child Mother Goose Program®. There will be many community organizations offering a wide range of family-focused activities on the east side of Riverside Park. Families and child care sites will have an opportunity to get creative with arts and crafts, enjoy physical literacy activities, experiment with science, try some musical instruments, plant marigolds, and use their imagination at the teddy bear hospital. The afternoon will wrap up with a large Mother Goose Circle and cake and fruit will be served.
Date: Thursday, June 13
Time: 10:00 am–12:30 pm
Location: Riverside Park (rain or shine)
The Kamloops Food Bank will be on location to collect non-perishable food donations.
The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program® introduces adults and children to the pleasure and power of enjoying rhymes, songs, and stories together. Parents gain skills and confidence that can enable them to create positive family patterns during their children’s crucial early years. Children benefit from enjoyable, healthy early experiences with language and communication. Over 60 Mother Goose Programs® were offered in the Kamloops community from October to June.
