Music in the Park Returns for 2022

Release Date

The City of Kamloops and BCLC are thrilled to announce that Music in the Park—a free, nightly, family-friendly event—will return to Riverside Park for July and August 2022. This signature summer classic has been a part of Kamloops’ cultural and entertainment scene since 1994.

For 28 years, the City of Kamloops and BCLC have sponsored daily concerts at Riverside Park throughout July and August. The concert series was cancelled in 2020 and shortened in 2021 due to public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.

“We look forward to welcoming artists back to our community and encourage our out-of-town friends to come and enjoy the longest-running series of its kind in North America,” said Henry Small, who has coordinated the outdoor concert series since 1993 and looks forward to organizing this year’s lineup.

Performers are encouraged to submit applications for the 2022 event at Kamloops.ca/MusicInThePark.

“This event was dearly missed in our community during the last two years and we’re so happy to have it back in Riverside Park this summer,” said Sean Smith, the City’s Business Operations and Event Supervisor. “We encourage past and new artists to apply for an opportunity to perform—the wide variety of music is what makes this event a success.”

“BCLC is proud to contribute to the social fabric of the Kamloops community, including through Music in the Park which we have presented alongside the City of Kamloops since 1994,” said Peter ter Weeme, BCLC’s Chief Social Purpose Officer and Vice President, Player Experience. “BCLC is thrilled to help bring communities together again for connection and music, and we look forward to the many performances planned for this summer.”

Residents are encouraged to check the website for schedule updates as they become available and to take advantage of Riverside Park this summer to enjoy the longest running music festival in Kamloops.
