Kamloops BC – The newly constructed playground in McArthur Island Park is set to open for play ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Located at the west end of the park behind the minigolf area, the new play area boasts accessible features, including a "We-Go-Round", which offers play both inside and out for all abilities, features built-in shade and seating, and has multiple accessible sensory panels.
Other improvements coming soon include a new universal pit toilet located nearby, a picnic area with covered gazebos, pathway upgrades, and a disc golf practice area.
The playground’s construction started in July, and it will be open for play as of October 8.
To celebrate the grand opening of the playground, the City is promoting the use of the hashtag #mymacpark. Residents are encouraged to take photos of their friends and family enjoying the park’s new features and post them to social media (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter) using the #mymacpark hashtag to be entered to win one of four prizes:
- family set of minigolf clubs
- disc golf package
- one of two $50 gift certificates for Taste Kitchen Café.
Contest closes at midnight on October 24, and prizes will be drawn on October 25. By entering the contest, participants agree that their image may be used by the City of Kamloops for future promotional purposes.
