Kamloops, B.C. – Plans to construct Grasslands Boulevard between Woodrush Drive and Cantle Drive are temporarily on hold. The project was originally scheduled for completion this summer, however, a number of grade and access challenges have delayed finalization of the detailed project design. City of Kamloops Capital Projects Manager, Darren Crundwell, anticipates that once the challenges have been addressed and the project design finalized, the project will go out to tender this summer/fall, with construction completed in spring 2017.
The road project, which will result in the completion of Grasslands Boulevard from Batchelor Drive to Westsyde Road, will improve neighbourhood connectivity, provide a secondary road access for residents and emergency services, and allow for future improved transit service.
Earlier this year, local residents attended a public open house to learn more about the project and provide their feedback. City staff will continue to meet with property owners who will be most impacted by the project.
