Hey kids, the City’s Streets division needs your help naming our toughest pieces of snow-clearing equipment!
This fun, family-friendly contest is an opportunity for the community to showcase its creativity, humour, and civic pride in naming some of the hardest-working machines in our fleet, including a grader, a single axel plow truck, two tandem plow trucks, a snowblower/loader combo, and a Parks Toolcat. The possibilities are endless, whether you’re inspired by puns, local landmarks, or famous figures!
"Our snow equipment and operators work tirelessly to keep our roads safe and clear during the harshest months of the year," said Jeff Putnam, the City’s Parks and Streets Manager. "This contest is a way to celebrate their efforts and bring some fun and community spirit to winter’s challenges."

The City maintains almost 1,500 lane km of road, including 267 bus stops, 534 cul-de-sacs, and 93 km of sidewalks. Homeowners are responsible for clearing sidewalks adjacent to their property each day after a snowfall.
Effective snow clearing by our equipment and residents like you helps emergency personnel, motorists, pedestrians, and other road users navigate city streets safely.
If you need help with shovelling, the Snow Angels program can connect you to a volunteer to help clear pathways, stairs, sidewalks, and driveways on your property. Contact Volunteer Kamloops at 250-372-8313 to register or visit VolunteerKamloops.org to learn more about volunteering with the program.
