City of Kamloops Updating Social Planning Grant Program

Release date:
November 7, 2017

Kamloops, B.C. – The City of Kamloops is making some exciting changes to the Social Planning Grant program to better reflect the goals outlined in the City’s Social Plan.
Kamloops City Council allocates $90,000 annually for local community initiatives through the Social Planning Grants. Historically, the City has issued a call for applications in October for non-profit agencies to submit proposals for funding to be allocated the following year.
This year, the City is reviewing the entire program to expand its reach and impact within the community.
“Our intention is to make these dollars stretch even further” says Jen Casorso, the City’s Social and Community Development Supervisor. “While traditional programs will still be supported, there is also opportunity to nurture exciting new ideas on a more long-term basis.”
The City expects to present the new framework for the Social Planning Grant program to council in December, and issue the 2018 call for applications in January.
