Kamloops, BC - In mid-June, the City hosted Design Downtown Week, which featured a pair of public events to gather feedback as part of the Downtown Plan review and update process. The Public Lecture and Panel on Planning and Urban Design at the Paramount on June 13 and the Community Open House at Hotel 540 on June 16 were well attended and well received. Residents also provided feedback by completing the Downtown Plan community survey, submitting big ideas on Design Downtown Week postcards, and emailing comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Attendees at the Community Open House were able to review and provide feedback on several draft design concepts for 'key opportunity sites' with redevelopment potential in the Downtown that emerged from the Downtown design charrette process. These draft sketches are now available online for public comment on our Downtown Plan webpage which is on the new Let’s Talk Kamloops engagement platform at https://LetsTalk.Kamloops.ca/downtownplan. Online feedback will be gathered on the design concepts until July 22.
The webpage also includes an interactive map where residents can pin an idea for a specific downtown location, and a 'Key Issues and Opportunities' tab where residents can post their own comments and vote on what others have said.
