Every fall, the City begins to prepare for updating its annual budget, which is the financial plan for creating and maintaining programs and services for citizens.
The Public Budget Meeting in November is a key budget cycle activity.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 7:00–9:00 pm, at the Sports Centre Lounge in the McArthur Island Sports and Event Centre.
At the meeting, the City will inform residents on the 2020–2024 Five-Year Financial Plan. Residents are encouraged to come to the meeting and ask questions related to the City’s planning process, how projects are funded, and how the budget is put together.
Overall, the City's provisional 2020 budget indicates a 2.76% increase in total municipal property taxes, which reflects a $61 dollar increase to the average household.
The public will have the opportunity to learn more about the budget process, provide feedback on the provisional budget, and share ideas to be considered in the supplemental budget and the Five-Year Financial Plan.
The City recognizes there is significant public interest for information regarding the Kamloops Centre for the Arts and the upcoming referendum. While that project is not included in the 2020 budget discussion, we invite residents to ask their questions at LetsTalk.Kamloops.ca/KCA.
Representatives from various City departments will be in attendance to answer other questions the public may have about City operations. By sharing your priorities and participating in the City’s budget process, you can help create a strong future for Kamloops.
