Release date:
August 29, 2017

Kamloops, BC - The Tournament Capital Games are just over one week away! The City of Kamloops, Tourism Kamloops, and the Kamloops Sports Council are excited to host over 600 athletes during this inaugural event September 8-10. Spots are filling up fast, but there is still an opportunity to register.

Throughout the weekend, 600 athletes will compete in soccer, athletics (track and field), squash, tennis, volleyball, pickleball, slo-pitch, women’s hockey, and mountain biking. Events will take place at various Tournament Capital venues.

On Saturday evening, athletes will celebrate at the Saturday Night Social in Riverside Park. Eagle Eyes, an Eagles tribute band, will provide live music. Red Collar Brewing, Iron Road Brewing, A&D Dogs, Cook Shack Cravings, Fat Franks BBQ and Grill, Ken’s Mobile Catering, Lakeside Concession & Mini Donuts, and the Blender Bender Food Truck will be the food and drink vendors for the evening.

The event is supported by Tourism Kamloops, the Kamloops Sports Council, and local sport organizations. The games’ concept was inspired by the incredibly successful Huntsman Games, which take place every year in St. George, Utah. The Huntsman Games, which run annually for two weeks, started in the late 1980s and have grown to attract over 10,000 participants from all over the world.
