The City of Kamloops is pleased to announce the successful recipients of the available funds for the additional 2021 Social and Community Development Grant. This additional stream of funding was derived from unallocated funds that were carried forward from the previous year.
The City sent out a call for applications in September inviting non-profit organizations and societies that met the program requirements to apply.
The City received twenty-six applications from registered charities and non-profit agencies in our community. After a thorough evaluation process, the Social Planning Engagement Group has recommended the available $33,000 be awarded in three separate grants to the following organizations:
- $9,000 to A Way Home Kamloops
- $6,757 to BGC Kamloops (formerly Boys and Girls Club)
- $17,253 to Kamloops Symphony Society
The Social and Community Development Grant fund supports non-profit groups and societies with special projects, operational costs, and/or capital expenditures that address specific current social problems and/or issues that are identified in the City’s Social Plan. Recipients of the grants must commence their project or begin to use the awarded fund in 2021, with funding targeted towards a specific program for one year.
“We would like to thank all organizations who submitted an application. Your continued support and service in our community is definitely acknowledged and appreciated.” said Renata Mrema, the City’s Social Development Coordinator.
The 2022 Social and Community Development grants will be awarded in December.
