Canada Day at Riverside Park to Include Evening Drone Show

Release Date

Kamloops is hosting its annual Canada Day event on July 1 in Riverside Park. Join the festivities with a full day of culture, arts, music, and fun.

Canada Day in the park will kick off with the Lions Club pancake breakfast from 7:00 to 10:30 am. Attendees are invited to the Rotary Bandshell for the multicultural flag parade, which begins at 10:45 am, Drum Canada at 11:00 am, and the opening ceremony from 11:10 am to 12:30 pm.

Afterward, spend the day wandering through the park, discovering local artisans, enjoying multicultural food, cooling off in the beer garden, and taking in a wide range of performances. The day will be capped off with the City’s first-ever drone show at dusk, which includes 200 drones with a Canada Day theme instead of a fireworks show (weather pending). For the best experience, attendees are encouraged to watch the show from Rivers Trail in Riverside Park. The drone show is brought to you by the City of Kamloops and supported by the Kamloops Multicultural Society and Browns Locksmith/Ray’s Lock and Key.

This year, Art in the Park will be located at the west end of the park near the Rose Garden. Near the Rotary Bandshell, kids can play on the inflatables in the Kid Funzone, and residents will find a variety of community booths and food trucks.

To help plan the day, an online interactive map of the park outlining Art in the Park artisans, Multicultural Society booths, community vendors, beer garden, and entertainment is available at Kamloops.ca/CanadaDay.

Attendees are encouraged to do their part and help reduce the landfill waste generated by this event by bringing a water bottle and a tote bag for swag collection from community booths and purchases at the Art in the Park.

Residents are reminded that the City Centre Sanitary Upgrade Construction Project is still ongoing with significant traffic impacts in the downtown core. Consider carpooling or taking alternate transportation to Riverside Park:

  • BC Transit has free transit on July 1, operating with Saturday-level service.
  • Hop on your bike! The Kamloops Bike Valet is available at the tennis courts, which will keep your bikes safe while you enjoy the event. This supervised bike valet is hosted by the City of Kamloops.

The City extends a special thank you to the Kamloops Arts Council and the Kamloops Multicultural Society for organizing the Canada Day festivities and to BCLC for sponsoring this event. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.
