Kamloops, BC – The City of Kamloops would like to advise residents that the 2020 Asphalt Resurfacing Program will begin throughout the city in early June on a number of local, collector, and arterial roads.
BA Dawson Blacktop Ltd. is the successful proponent for a two-year contract for asphalt resurfacing projects throughout the city.
“This is the first time that the City has secured a multi-year agreement with a contractor for road resurfacing projects,” said Darren Crundwell, City’s Capital Projects Manager. “By working with master service agreement for this work, our goal is to improve efficiency and communication and provide more value for the City, residents, and the project team. This new process allows the City to plan efficiently, coordinate work throughout the city, and develop appropriate timelines.”
Repairs will take anywhere from five days to four months, depending on the project scope and location. Work will vary from full-depth reclamation to minor curb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs to asphalt resurfacing. Some of the locations for this work are:
- Columbia Street at 1st Avenue
- Columbia Street at 3rd Avenue
- Columbia Street at Grandview Terrace
- Columbia Street at Notre Dame
- Gleneagles Drive (Glenshee Place to Glen Nevis Place)
- Greystone Crescent (Van Horne Drive to Garymede Drive)
- Springhill Drive (Summit Drive to Sedona Place)
- Fortune Drive
- Rosehill Road
- Barnhartvale Road (Dallas Drive to Todd Road)
- Tod Mountain Road
While every attempt will be made to minimize the impact on business owners, residents, motorists, transit users, and pedestrians during construction, delays and congestion are inevitable and should be expected.
