On March 23, 2019, Kamloops will be host to the 2019 River City Adapted Hockey Tournament for youth and adults with diverse abilities. This is the sixth year that Kamloops has participated in the tournament and the second year that Kamloops has hosted the tournament at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre. Kamloops will compete against teams from Penticton, Kelowna, Vernon, Surrey, South Island, and Vancouver. Our goal is to make this year's tournament a great day for everyone.
The City’s Adapted Hockey for Kids program is for boys and girls aged 5 to 16 years old who have developmental and physical disabilities, and its Adapted Hockey for Adults program is for players aged 17+. The goal of these programs is to offer a safe environment to learn to skate, improve motor skills and co-ordination and, most importantly, PLAY HOCKEY!
Opening ceremonies will take place at 8:30 am, with games beginning at 7:00 am and running until 5:30 pm. A dinner banquet for players, family, and friends, where teams will receive medals and prizes, will be held after the tournament.
Event organizers would like to thank all the organizations, businesses, and individuals who have donated to this event—their generosity will help make this a memorable day for everyone involved.
