Kamloops, BC – As residential growth has occurred more extensively in certain areas of Kamloops over recent years (in particular Zones 4 and 5), the City will be adjusting the boundaries of the five designated solid waste collection zones effective January 1, 2018.
The new collection zones will be outlined in the City’s 2018 Annual Calendar that will be distributed to homes in December. The new zones are as follows (changes in bold):
|Zone 1 (Yellow)||No change|
|Zone 2 (Blue)||Expanded to include 8th to 12th Street|
|Zone 3 (Red)||Expanded to include Downtown (South of Columbia) & Dufferin|
|Zone 4 (Orange)||Removed Dufferin|
|Zone 5 (Green)||Removed Downtown (South of Columbia)|
As a result of these updates, the time of day at which collection trucks will be in your area may change. To ensure garbage and recycling is collected, residents are reminded that under the City’s Solid Waste and Recyclables Bylaw No.40-59, garbage and recycling carts are to be placed at the curb by 7:00 am on designated collection days.
To provide residents with a collection day reminder, and to assist with the recycling and garbage guidelines, the City has launched a new ‘Waste Wise Kamloops’ app. The app includes collection day reminders and a waste wizard to help residents properly dispose of various products and materials. The app is available for Apple and Android. This service is also available online at www.kamloops.ca/recycling.
