On August 11, 6 city blocks in downtown Kamloops are closed off to allow Street Rods, Customs, American Muscle, Sport-compact, Tuners, British, European, Asian, Collector, Vintage, Motorcycles, Race Competition vehicles and Big Rigs, to line the streets for the annual Hot Nite In The City Show-n-Shine!
Things are looking a little bit brighter at Sandman Centre these days. The City recently completed a lighting upgrade project, which resulted in some big benefits for users, taxpayers, and the City alike.
Six City employees gathered at the Kamloops Food Bank before work on Friday, June 8, 2018, to lend their hands to a program that helps feed local school kids in need.
Colleen Quigley (HR Manager), Lucas Daost (HR Advisor), Mike Helfrish (Kamloops Fire Rescue), Elnaz Ansari (Traffic and Transportation Engineer), Terry Pile (Risk Manager), and Carol Allen (Accounting Clerk) stuffed 40 backpacks full of food in a matter of 45 minutes, wrapping it all up before 8:00 am. Quigley's son also joined in before heading off to school.
Kamloops Fire Rescue and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 913 hosted a Fire Ground Survival demonstration Friday, May 11. Mayor and Council, as well as the media, were invited to see how KFR trains its members in situational awareness, air management, communication, avoiding panic, disentanglement, and upper-floor escape techniques.
