In Phase 1, residents helped craft a vision of a sustainable, healthy, inclusive, vibrant, and resilient community through public launch events, surveys, workshops and meetings including First Nations and youth specific events.
We asked residents to identify what they value and share their vision for the future of Kamloops. Residents also identified current issues in the community to consider in this update of the OCP.
2015 Community-to-Community Forum
On March 30, 2015 KAMPLAN staff spoke at the Community-to-Community Forum between the City of Kamloops and Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS). This handout was generated for the event and highlights key themes of Phase 1 that had strong First Nations participation and those themes specific to First Nations and TteS.
Public input was compiled and used to inform a number of major themes for consideration in the KAMPLAN Review and Update process. The KAMPLAN team analyzed the results, used them to develop a Community Vision and set of Community Values, and began developing goals, policies, and land use scenarios for consideration in Phase 2.
The following reports were used during Phase 1 to provide residents and stakeholders with background on some of the key issues to be addressed in KAMPLAN. We encourage you to read these reports and get informed on the key issues, challenges and opportunities across a range of topic areas.
