The City of Kamloops has contracted Acres Enterprises Ltd. to carry out Phase 1 of the progressive closure of the Kamloops Resource Recovery Centre. This project will consist of final shaping and grading of a large portion of the site, as well as drainage improvements. While there will be a significant amount of earth works utilizing mainly on-site material, there will be a need to import material, so expect higher traffic volume during construction. The project is anticipated to start late March and complete by late summer 2020. Seeding will
take place in the Fall to ensure the best chance of success. The contractor will ensure dust control measures are followed.
Phase 1 follows the initial preparation work that commenced on March 11, 2020. This initial work including concrete crushing and material preparation.
With the COVID-19 situation, Acres Enterprises Ltd. and project sub-contractors are taking every precaution to help ensure the safety of crews and the general public within the construction site, including reducing crew numbers and following the guidelines for physical distancing set out by the Public Health Officer.
Hours of Work
Crews will begin work in late March. Completion is anticipated for late summer 2020. Construction is scheduled to occur Monday through Friday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm.
There should be very little impact overall to residents, motorists, and pedestrians during construction; however, there may be an increased volume of truck traffic accessing Owl Road. Dust control measures will be followed to keep dust at a minimum during construction.
