Concrete pouring of the curb and gutter is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 2*. The sidewalk extension concrete pour is tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 4*. Comazzetto Road is anticipated to reopen to all traffic the week of October 3. * Dates for concrete and paving work are tentative and weather dependent.

PROJECT SCOPE

The City of Kamloops has contracted Extreme Excavating to conduct upgrades on Comazzetto Road and a small section of the East Trans Canada Highway Frontage Road. This work is scheduled to begin September 8, weather dependent, and will encompass the following scope of work: 

Comazzeto Road: 

  • mill and repave asphalt;
  • construction of a sidewalk extension and retaining wall;
  • upgrades of water service and catch basins; and
  • curb and gutter upgrades.

Frontage Road:

  • mill and repave asphalt.

HOURS OF WORK

Work will begin September 8 and is expected to be complete by the middle of October. Construction is scheduled to occur Monday to Friday with the possibilty of some Saturday work. Construction will be a combination of day and night work. Day work will occur between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm and night work will be between 7:00 pm and 7:00 am. 

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Construction will start on Comazzetto Road and then move to the Frontage Road. 
When on Comazzetto Road, all traffic will be detoured with the exception of local traffic. 
When work is on the Frontage Road, traffic will be single lane alternating, with some possible detouring.
Please obey all traffic control personnel, signage, and equipment when driving in the vicinity. Expect delays and plan accordingly.

RESIDENT AND BUSINESS IMPACTS

Throughout the construction period, vibratory compaction equipment may be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration. There may also be noise disruption due to equipment on site. 

Transit will not be impacted. 

Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
