3rd Avenue Pedestrian Bridge and Sandman Centre Upgrades

Painting of the pedestrian bridge is now complete. Concrete sealing will be completed by the end of this week. The week of September 27, crews will install the new aluminum panels, and the bird netting will be re-hung. The pedestrian bridge is anticipated to reopen early October.

Project Scope

The City of Kamloops will be performing maintenance on the 3rd Avenue Pedestrian Bridge, which includes:

  • concrete repairs;
  • safety improvements to handrails;
  • removal and replacement of plexi glass panels;
  • concrete sealing; and
  • new paint.

Sandman Centre will also be receiving a new paint job.

Hours of Work

This project will begin May 25 and is expected to be completed by mid-July. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 7:00 am-5:00 pm. 

Traffic, Business and Pedestrian Impacts

This project requires a full closure of the pedestrian bridge. Pedestrians are advised to use crossings at 2nd or 1st Avenue. There will be intermittent road closures to 3rd Ave between Lansdowne St and Lorne St. Please obey all traffic control personnel and signage and use caution in the area. Access will be provided to adjacent businesses. The Sandman Hotel, Moxie's Grill and Shark's Club should be accessed via 2nd Avenue.
