Heidi Ogilvie
Aquatics Coordinator
Heidi has been with the City since 1993 when the Canada Games Aquatic Centre opened and began her career as Lifeguard, Lifeguard II and then as a Lifeguard Crew Leader.
Duties
Supervise Lifeguard Operations, program the Advanced Aquatic continuum: Lifesaving, Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor courses, coordinate
quarterly training sessions for the Aquatic Section employees, coordinate aquatic facility bookings, coordinate competitive sporting events,
coordinate facility usage and bookings for the Aquatic Sport Clubs, manage the corporate Public Access Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Program, assist in developing emergency procedures for TCC.
Heidi is active in the community and volunteers for several non-profit organizations including: Lifesaving Society, Kamloops Classic Swimming, Kamloops Kids of Steel Race Committee and the Nancy Greene Ski League.
CS: What makes you most proud of the work you do?
Heidi: Seeing our Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services team host phenomenal events in our world class facilities.
CS: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Heidi: Spend time with husband and my two children and participate in various athletic activities.
CS: What's your favorite activity in Kamloops?
Heidi: Alpine skiing at Sun Peaks.
CS: If you could smash a world-record at anything, what would it be?
Heidi: Preventing the most drownings in the world via public education.
CS: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?
Heidi: Working for a top 100 corporation makes me feel excited about going to work each day - I really am proud to be a long service
employee for the City of Kamloops, my job gets better and better every year.
