Social Planning Grants

Social Planning Grants are allocated once a year. There is approximately $90,000 in funds available, $10,000 of which is specifically designated to seniors initiatives. The number of applications received each year from non-profit agencies or societies range from 15 to 25 applications. The Social Planning Council reviews these applications and makes recommendations to City Council. City Council makes the final decision on allocation of funds. A submission of an application does not guarantee funding support.

For 2018, the City of Kamloops is reviewing the Social Planning Grant program to expand its reach and impact within the community and better reflect the goals outlined in the City's Social Plan.

Our intention is to make the dollars stretch even further. While traditional programs will still be supported, there is also opportunity to nurture exciting new ideas on a more long-term basis.

We expect to present the new framework for the Social Planning Grant program to council in December, and issue the 2018 call for applications in January.
