Parkade and Performing Arts Centre Complex Assent Voting (Referendum)
The City of Kamloops is conducting assent voting (referendum) on
November 7, 2015
Open to all eligible electors of the City on the following question:
"Are you in favour of the City of Kamloops borrowing up to $49 million to design and construct the parkade and performing arts centre complex?"
A municipal Council may, by bylaw and with the approval of the electors, incur long term liabilities such as borrowing up to $49 million for the proposed parkade and performing arts centre complex. City of Kamloops Council gave three readings to the Parkade and Performing Arts Centre Complex Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 14-1-177 at the June 16, 2015 Council meeting. This bylaw will be held at third reading pending the results of the November 7, 2015 referendum.
Elections BC oversees advertising rules for assent voting in BC under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act (LECFA) and supports advertising sponsors to help them understand and meet their responsibilities under LECFA. All non-election assent voting advertising sponsors must register with Elections BC before sponsoring any advertising and file a disclosure statement with Elections BC within 90 days after General Voting Day (February 5, 2016).
