September 2011 Update

The City of Kamloops is proposing to construct a two-level, 348-stall public parkade at 200 Lorne Street on the existing Heritage House parking lot in 2012 at an estimated total project cost of $8,088,772, of which $8,000,000 will be the subject of a borrowing by-law.

The base elevation of the parkade is to be 344.4 m above sea level, which is 0.9 m below the floor slab of Heritage House and 0.5 m below the lawn bowling green.

At this elevation, from Riverside Park, the bottom level of the parkade can be completely screened through berming and the top level of the parkade will be at the same grade as the existing asphalt surface and below grade with Lorne Street to the south.

There will be no ramping between the levels. Access to the bottom level will be from the existing Heritage House/Riverside Park entrance road located to the west of 2nd Avenue while access to the top level will be aligned with 2nd Avenue.

In addition, a stairwell will be located in the southeast corner of the parkade (the Cunliffe House Corner) and a stairwell and elevator will be located in the northwest corner of the parkade with a pedestrian connection to Heritage House.
