Water Treatment Centre Out of Operation

Kamloops, BC – The City requires residents to minimize water use to essential needs only until further notice. At approximately 4:00 am this morning, the City's Water Treatment Plant experienced a power supply issue due to a blown transformer. This loss of power resulted in programming issues rendering the treatment process inoperable.

The City will have diminishing water capacity until the plant is back in full operation. City crews are working hard to make the necessary repairs. Other temporary measures are also being investigated to supply water through the distribution system.

Kamloops Fire Rescue has increased its staffing levels and adjusted it resources to be able to respond to incidents or fires that may occur.

The City of Kamloops thanks residents for their cooperation during this issue.
