Water Treatment Plant Repairs Underway

Kamloops, BC – At approximately 12:30 pm, the Water Treatment Plant began producing water for Kamloops residents. City crews are gradually bringing the pumps back online to avoid overloading the system, and are optimistic that the problem has been resolved.

Residents are urged to continue limiting water usage until all testing is complete and the City can provide a final update. This is expected within two hours.

The City wants to assure residents that water quality was not compromised at any point during the incident.

"This isn't an issue of quality, only quantity," says Greg Wightman, EOC Operations Chief. "Although the system is producing water again and we are slowly replenishing our supply, we want to complete all testing before we remove the restrictions on residents."

The City of Kamloops thanks residents for their cooperation.
