Water Treatment Plant Fully Operational

Kamloops, BC – City crews have confirmed that the Water Treatment Plant has been restored to full operation and water usage can return to normal.

The plant was rendered inoperable at 4 am today when a blown transformer resulted in a computer programming issue. All residents were urged to limit water usage to essential use only in order to conserve the city’s water supply.

Water quality was not compromised at any point today.

The focus of crews at the Water Treatment Plant and the Emergency Operations Centre today was to restore the system for domestic water use and fire protection. The City can now focus on investigating the cause and determining if any additional preventative measures could be undertaken.

The Emergency Operations Centre is standing down at 15:00 hours.

The City of Kamloops thanks residents for their cooperation.
