Homelessness Partnering Strategy 2016/2017 Funding Call for Proposals
Kamloops, B.C. – The Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) is a federal initiative aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness by providing direct support and funding to communities across Canada.
The federal government’s 2013 Economic Action Plan announced that nearly $600 million will be allocated to HPS between April 1, 2014, and March 31, 2019, to provide communities across Canada, including Kamloops, with the flexibility and support they need to help prevent and reduce homelessness. Recently, the Government of Canada announced that Budget 2016 will invest an additional $111.8 million into addressing homelessness, through HPS, over two years, starting in fiscal year 2016/2017.
A call for proposals for the 2016/2017 funding increase is now open for the following funding streams, which will be effective approximately October 15, 2016, and ending March 31, 2017:
- Approximately $180,000 in Designated Communities; and
- Approximately $133,000 in Aboriginal Homelessness.
An information session will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 11:00 am, at Parkview Activity Centre (500 McDonald Avenue). Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by September 19.
