BC Goes Wild Weekend

Kamloops, B.C. – Ready for a wild weekend? This weekend, September 17th and 18th, WildSafeBC will be hosting its very first BC Goes Wild event. The purpose of this province‑wide event is to encourage people to safely enjoy wildlife in its natural habitat and to emphasize the goal of keeping wildlife wild and communities safe.

In Kamloops, there will be a free nature walk/scavenger hunt in Kenna Cartwright Park on Saturday, September 17th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Anyone 6 years or older is invited to enjoy an afternoon of hiking and exploring. To learn more about this activity, please contact or call 250-572-3915.

Outside of an organized activity, residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to safely spend some time outdoors. Feel free to share your experiences on the WildsafeBC Facebook page or tag your photo with #bcgoeswildweekend on Instagram and Twitter.

There are also three province-wide activities planned: a photo contest, a “Wildlife Counts” activity, and a colouring contest designed for adults (but open to all ages). Prizes include a spotting scope, binoculars, and a camera with a long zoom lens—all tools that allow you to observe wildlife at a safe distance. Complete details can be found on the WildSafeBC website at
