Declaration and Evacuation Order Rescinded

Kamloops, B.C. – Inspections of properties damaged by the rain event in Westsyde has been completed to the west of Westsyde Road. The City of Kamloops Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has issued a partial rescind of the Declaration for State of Local Emergency and Evacuation Order for residents located on Irving Place, Parkview Drive, Rhonmore Crescent, Oak Hills Boulevard and the 2400 block of Westsyde Road. The Order remains in effect for residents of the Oakdale Mobile Home Park. The City will rescind the Order for that area once inspections are complete.

Residents returning to their homes are reminded to look for notices on their front doors from FortisBC and BC Hydro regarding reconnection of services. Residents are reminded Fortis inspections will be not be completed until Friday, July 3rd. Residents are further reminded that once Fortis has approved gas service reconnection, they are required to contact a gas contractor to reignite appliances.

The City's Emergency Social Services Reception Centre is currently open at the Kamloops Yacht Club located at 1140 River Street and will close at 4:00 p.m.

The EOC's public information line (250-828-3895) will also shut down at 4:00 p.m. Residents are asked to call 250-828-3461 after that time. Residents may also monitor local media for further information.

The City of Kamloops is authorizing Westsyde residents to drop natural debris (mud, rocks, branches, etc.) at no charge at the Mission Flats Landfill until July 13th. Residents will be required to provide identification with proof of address.
