Full Evacuation Order Rescinded for Westsyde Residents

Kamloops, B.C. – The City of Kamloops thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during the recent rain event that occurred in your neighbourhood. We appreciate the event was extreme and that there are concerns for homes and properties.

Please be advised the evacuation order affecting the Oakdale Mobile Home Park will be rescinded effective 6:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

Currently there are no hydro or gas utilities to affected homes. It is expected it will take up to Friday, July 3rd to re-establish services. This will be coordinated through the Oakdale Mobile Home Park Manager.

For residents who prefer to stay in accommodations while their homes are without utilities, vouchers provided by Emergency Social Services remain valid as issued for up to 72 hours.

The City wishes to remind residents to remove perishable foods from fridges and freezers and dispose of as necessary.

The City also wishes to remind residents to avoid the use of candles and open flame appliances while indoors to minimize risks of fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.

The City has been working closely with the Province of BC. The Province has confirmed that Disaster Financial Assistance may be available to those receiving damage to their properties. Residents are asked to:
