Snow clearing update

Kamloops, B.C. – City crews are continuing to remove accumulated snow from city streets. Residents are notified that crews will be working in the business districts during the evenings from Wednesday, January 7th to Friday, January 9th.

On Wednesday, the targeted areas include 1st Avenue through 6th Avenue, and west sections of Lorne Street and Victoria Street, while Tranquille Road will be addressed on Thursday and Friday. All work will take place between the hours of 8:00 pm and 7:00 am.

Residents are asked not to park on the streets in the above areas during these times to allow for the machinery to effectively remove the accumulated snow. Parked cars will be towed to adjacent streets. Please note that these times and locations are subject to change based on weather conditions and other demands.

The majority of local and residential roads have been cleared, however as the plows make their way to the remaining roads, residents are asked to avoid parking on the streets when possible. Expect windrows as a result of the plowing, and note that the removal of windrows is the responsibility of the home/business owner.

Garbage is still being collected as per the 2015 Garbage Collection Schedule, although residents may experience some delays. Carts should be placed on the street between 6:00 and 7:00 am to allow snowplows to navigate residential streets during the night.

Questions and concerns should be directed to 250-828-3461.
