BC Lions ink extension keeping Training Camp in Kamloops through 2017
Kamloops, B.C. – The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that it has extended its training camp partnership with the City of Kamloops and Thompson Rivers University through 2017.
“Extending our stay in Kamloops for three more years demonstrates the outstanding success of this relationship over five previous training camps,” said Lions president and CEO Dennis Skulsky. “Training camp is one of the main building blocks of a winning team and the support of the City of Kamloops, Thompson Rivers University and our many corporate partners has been a big part of our success on the field as well as the province-wide growth of our brand.”
“From a football perspective, the facilities and accommodations are second to none,” said Lions VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono. “The fans are very supportive and the beautiful weather each year has made training camp in Kamloops a fantastic experience for everyone.”
Originally touching down in the Tournament Capital back in 2010, the Lions have enjoyed the scenic surroundings and outstanding facilities that Kamloops boasts for the past five years.
"Kamloops continues to build on our reputation of having some of the finest sport-hosting venues in the province, which is demonstrated by this very successful partnership with the BC Lions. We look forward to hosting them for another three years," said Kamloops Mayor Peter Milobar.
Along with the City of Kamloops and Thompson Rivers University, presenting partner Sun Peaks Resorts has also renewed its support of Lions Training Camp through 2017.
"We are very excited and pleased that the BC Lions have decided to return to Kamloops for three more years and that we have the opportunity to continue our successful sponsorship relationship,” said Darcy Alexander, Vice President of Sun Peaks Resort Corporation. “Since we first began working with the Lions, the club has won a Grey Cup and Sun Peaks Resort has grown to be the second largest ski area in Canada. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with the Lions as we work together in our mutual pursuit of excellence."
The next BC Lions home game is Friday, September 19 versus the Toronto Argonauts at 7:00 pm presented by TELUS. Tickets in the Global BC Family Zone and Gemstone Gridiron Deck are on sale now – visit Ticketmaster or call 604.589.ROAR for more information.
