Kamloops, B.C. - After some minor repairs and thorough inspection, the City of Kamloops has reopened the Thompson Drive boat launch in Valleyview.
The boat launch had experienced some damage due to the recent high waters of the South Thompson River. As the river level receded, the City was able to make repairs to a damaged section of asphalt, and the launch is now better defined for the loading and unloading of boats and ready for use by the public.
Watercraft users are still advised to use caution on the river as fast, high water and navigational hazards are still of concern.
The swimming area at Riverside Park remains closed due to high water and floating debris, with the intention to reopen it this weekend.
