Kamloops, B.C. - As the river levels continue to recede, the City of Kamloops will reopen the Riverside Park swimming area and commence lifeguard service on Saturday, July 28th.
Lifeguard service is available at the Riverside Park Beach from 1:00 to 5:00 pm daily, weather and conditions permitting, through until September 2nd. When lifeguards are on duty, the City recommends that swimmers stay within the buoy lines and always keep young children within arm's reach.
Kamloops Aquatics would like to remind all residents of the importance of being water smart, particularly when swimming in the river. Closely supervise children with inflatable toys as they can blow away from shore and children will often follow them to deeper water. Visit www.kamloops.ca/swim for more helpful water smart tips to keep you safe this summer.
For your information, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) unit is located in the Riverside Lifeguard office and will be available during lifeguard on-duty hours. In the event of a medical emergency, call 911 and immediately alert the lifeguards.
