Another Boat Launch Available for Public Use

Kamloops, B.C. - The Pioneer Park boat launch will be open to the public by noon today while the Thompson Drive boat launch will remain closed due to safety concerns. With the high river levels, the boat launch pad at Thompson Drive remains underwater and is still not clearly defined for users to properly launch their boats. City staff will be doing a daily assessment of the Thompson Drive boat launch and will advise when it is safe to open the launch to the public.

Residents are reminded of the river closure that remains in place by the RCMP. The South Thompson River is still closed from the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers to the Red Bridge. Although the river is open outside of this area, residents are reminded to exercise caution due to navigational hazards and respect that boating activity can have an impact on private property erosion.

Residents are reminded that the McArthur Island boat launch is also available for public use.
