The City welcomes new Development and Engineering Services Director

Kamloops, B.C. - The City of Kamloops is pleased to announce that Marvin Kwiatkowski, P.Eng, has accepted the Director of Development and Engineering Services position. Mr. Kwiatkowski brings over 16 years of increasingly responsible management experience in local government, most recently as the Director of Development Services at the City of Terrace since 2003, where he was accountable for the engineering, planning, building inspection, business licensing, mapping, bylaw enforcement and sustainability divisions.

Some of Mr. Kwiatkowski's key accomplishments include leadership and direction on recent initiatives including &qout;Terrace 2050 - A Strategy for Sustainability&qout;, 2011 OCP Revision, TERRAMAP - web based GIS mapping, Terrace Downtown Business Improvement Area, Downtown and Airport Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaws, Active Transportation Plan, and Transportation Corridor Study.

&qout;This was a tough competition,&qout; states David Trawin, City of Kamloops Chief Administration Officer. &qout;We undertook a rigorous process to ensure we had the best fit for the job. These are not decisions to be made lightly. Our first priority is to recruit and retain employees who are customer service oriented, innovative and future focused. Mr. Kwiatkowski demonstrated these qualities throughout the process.&qout;

Mr. Kwiatkowski officially starts his new role on July 16th.
