Kamloops, B.C. - Last night at approximately 10:00 pm, a 600 mm (24") water main broke in the Pineview Valley area. This water main is the main feeder from the booster station located behind Costco and feeds a reservoir above the Pineview Valley area. Crews are currently on site and have been most of the night. A repair has been made, which allows Pineview residents water, but pressure may be lower than normal and there may be further disruptions in water service when the final repair is made.
Water flow is expected to return to normal by approximately 4:00 pm today. Kamloops Fire Rescue will have a fire tender in the area in case of fire.
UPDATE as of April 11, 2012 5:30 PM: City crews continue to work on the final repairs to the water main in Pineview. Estimated time is later this (Wednesday) evening for water to be turned back on and service to return to normal.
UPDATE as of April 12, 2012 9:00 AM: The water main located in the Pineview Valley Subdivision has now been fully repaired. Utility crews worked on the repair until approx 9:30 PM Wednesday evening. The City's millwright team was also on site to reset the two pressure reducing stations in the area to prevent any additional issues.
