Kamloops, B.C. – The Tournament Capital Centre has officially welcomed its one millionth visitor in 2011. Sara Gervasi was the unsuspecting Kamloops resident that swiped her Full Facility membership card for the Centre’s millionth time in 2011.
Sara was the lucky recipient of an annual Full Facility pass to the TCC valued at $480.
Staff anticipate approximately 1.2 million patrons by the end of 2011, showing that residents and competitors alike are taking advantage of this world-class facility.
The $22 million multi-sport facility first opened its doors in 2007 as part of the Tournament Capital Program initiated by the City of Kamloops. Since then, the 135,000 square foot facility’s visitation has grown across all areas, including fitness operations, indoor pool and track, gymnastics, and concessions.
New to the TCC in 2011 was the installation of a live streaming webcam in the Fieldhouse. The next webcam will soon be ready in the Canada Games Aquatic Centre, and early in 2012 both rinks at McArthur Island Sport & Event Centre as well as Hillside Stadium will have live webcams installed. They can be viewed at www.kamloops.ca/webcams.
Opening soon is the newest retail partner to the TCC called "The Swim & Fitness Shop" located in the lobby area and will feature the latest in swim and fitness wear and supplies.
The Tournament Capital Centre is the official host venue for the BC Lions Football training camp, which is hosted every June until 2013. In 2011, the facility hosted a number of national level events including the Western Canada Summer Games and the Canadian Indoor Masters Athletics Championships.
