Kamloops, B.C. - Two exciting sport development camps will be happening in the Tournament Capital this weekend. Local youth will have the opportunity to work directly with two of Canada's Olympic athletes: Julia Wilkinson for the Future Stars® Swimming Camp and Gary Reed for the Future Stars® Middle Distance Athletics Camp. The camps will be conducted in the Tournament Capital Centres' Fieldhouse and the Canada Games Aquatic Centre starting Friday, April 29th through to Sunday, May 1st. Julia Wilkinson was the 2006 Pan Pacific Championship Silver Medalist, a 2008 Canadian Olympic Swimming Team Member and the 2010 Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist.
Gary Reed is the 800-metre Canadian record holder and six-time Canadian Champion, the 2007 World Athletics Championship Silver Medalist and was a Canadian Olympic Team Member in 2004 and 2008.
The public are welcome to attend a Meet and Greet event in the Tournament Capital Centre lobby on Saturday, April 30th, from 1:00 – 1:30 pm. Both athletes will say a few words and will be available to mingle with camp participants and public attendees.
