City of Kamloops Investigates Driving Suspension

Kamloops, B.C. - A career fire fighter from Kamloops Fire Rescue failed to disclose a 90 day administrative driving prohibition, received while off duty from work. The situation was further compounded by the fact that the fire fighter subsequently reported to work and failed to disclose his license suspension. The member then drove a City Emergency Vehicle, responding to 911 calls.

The City considers this situation a serious breach of duty.

The staff member has been suspended without pay pending the completion of a full investigation and a determination on discipline.

In order to respect the integrity of the investigation and disciplinary process, no further comments will be made at this time.
