Skating for Literacy and More

Kamloops, B.C. - As a proud supporting partner of Unplug and Play Literacy Week, The City of Kamloops is hosting several free public skates during the week of January 23rd to January 29th, 2011:

Sunday, January 23rd from 2:15 - 4:00pm at the Brock Arena;
Wednesday, January 26th from 6:00 - 8:30pm at the Valleyview Arena; and
Saturday, January 29th from 2:00 - 4:00pm at the Brock Arena.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with a special $2 Valentine's Day Skate at the Brock Arena from 2:15 - 4:00pm on Saturday, February 12th. At this event there will be a draw to give away some free Blazers tickets!

There is also public skating available on several Pro-D days:

Friday, February 25th from 2:00 - 4:00pm at the Brock Arena;
Monday, April 11th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Interior Savings Centre; and
Friday, May 20th from 1:00 - 3:00pm at the Brock Arena.

During the months of January and February, adults who are wearing helmets during public skating programs may be randomly selected to receive a free courtesy pass to another skate session. The program is targeting adults in particular as part of the City's 'Wear a Helmet Campaign', encouraging parents to set an example for their youth by demonstrating helmet safety.
