City Streamlines Parking Ticket Payments With Online Option

Kamloops, B.C. - Residents are now able to pay for their parking tickets online and be eligible for the discount rate if paid within 24 hours. Starting this week, the City of Kamloops, By-law Enforcement has launched a new method of issuing tickets for parking offences with the use of wireless handheld devices, which has improved access to the online payment option.

The decision to go wireless was due to the many benefits the technology provided such as:

  • Ticket information is immediately transmitted to City Hall and can be referenced right away for payment or to address public concerns;
  • The devices take an environmentally friendly approach as they require less paper than manual written tickets, helping to reduce printing and paper costs;
  • The equipment records and recalls compliance information by way of a vehicle’s licence plate number, allowing by-law officers greater access to a vehicle’s history.

"This equipment is leading edge and will see our division operate more efficiently'" says Jon Wilson, Community Safety & Enforcement Manager for the City of Kamloops. Wilson adds "It improves service for the public through faster data collection and retrieval at City Hall, access to the online payment option and enhances our overall effectiveness in managing the communities parking needs."

With the launch of the new system, residents will observe that the new parking tickets no longer come with an envelope for payment. The public are encouraged to use the new alternative payment options:
