Kenna Cartwright: A Park For All Seasons
A Photographic Exhibition by Donovan Harrison
December 3, 2011 - April 28, 2012
Artist Statement
Kenna Cartwright Park has been a favourite place for my wife Gisela and I for many years. What started with frequent walks with our dogs through the park turned
into daily extended hikes. These outings made us aware not only of the vastness and diversity of the terrain, plant and animal life, but also opened our eyes to
the varied recreational use of the area. It did not take us long to realize how lucky we are to have such a beautiful nature park within the City of Kamloops.
The park captivated the photographer in me as well. I realized very quickly that a big photography project lay in front of me and my camera. The occasional picture taking quickly turned into an obsession of documenting the park in all its seasonal diversity in order to present the images in a comprehensive exhibition to the Kamloops community.
My sincere thanks to the following:
The Arts Commission, City of Kamloops, for their generous grant to cover printing costs.
Access Picture Framing, sponsor
London Drugs Photo Lab, sponsor
Kelly Johnston, Crew Leader-Natural Resources, City of Kamloops, and his staff for facilitating photographic opportunities and for their technical assistance.
My wife, Gisela Mohr, for curating the exhibition.
