Team with Miss Teen Kamloops

Vahnessa Espig, Miss Teen Kamloops - World 2011, dropped by for an intimate chat and Victorian style Mother's Day tea at the Kamloops Museum & Archives.

About Miss Kamloops
She is not only beautiful, she is also uncommonly engaging. Possessing a natural charm, it is easy to see how this locally born and raised 19 year old became crowned Miss Teen Kamloops - World 2011. What is most striking is her passion for social justice, particularly on behalf of women.

Vahnessa's journey began while attending South Kamloops Secondary School participating in school clubs where after following up on an English research project, she created a campaign to raise awareness on the issue of human trafficking called, Stop Sex Trafficking: Innocence Is Not For Sale.

Fellow students were quick to respond and embrace the cause, asssiting Vahnessa by donating their time and effort to increase awareness and raise funding. The campaign was very successful and continues on to this day.

Vahnessa possesses a winning spirit, likely fostered through nearly a decade of competitive swimming with the Kamloops Classics and Tsunami swim clubs. She still holds the Tsunami club record for the 50m Butterfly race. She graduated high school with district honours and now attends the University of British Columbia. Currently, she is in her second year of Arts, majoring (not surprisingly) in Political Science.

Vahnessa volunteers with Canada Fights Human Trafficking and Women In Leadership. Her ultimate goal is to become a lawyer to improve human rights, here in Canada, as well as abroad. She maintains her high performance schedule with regular workouts at the gym and swimming.

Vahnessa is setting her sights on the Miss Teen Canada - World title.
