The Kamloops Art Gallery, Kamloops Symphony and Western Canada Theatre (in association with the City of Kamloops) are proud to announce the 3rd Annual Mayor's Gala for the Arts.

On January 23, 2010, join Kamloops' three premiere arts organizations, and Mayor Peter Milobar, as they celebrate the arts in our region. This joint fundraising endeavour will be an evening to remember; with live music, a stunning video celebration of the three organizations, an incredible mystery bid auction, and of course, the Mayor's Award for the Arts. This year's category is Arts Education - and the Mayor's Gala Award Committee is seeking public input for nominations.

The Committee is very excited to have the opportunity this year to recognize an outstanding Arts Educator in our community. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about, and has demonstrated excellence in, fostering the arts through arts education. They should be regarded as a professional, either by way of educational experience or by recognition of peers as an accomplished teacher in their field. The recipient must be active, or have been active, in the arts education community in Kamloops for a minimum of five years. Ideally, the recipient will be a practicing artist or performer in Kamloops and have a connection to at least one of the Kamloops Art Gallery, Kamloops Symphony or Western Canada Theatre.

Nominations will be accepted until December 4th, with the award being presented by Mayor Milobar at the Mayor's Gala for the Arts in January. The Mayor's Gala for the Arts will be held on Saturday, January 23 at the Kamloops Convention Cetnre. Tickets are $80 each (plus GST) and are available at Kamloops Live Box Office, 1025 Lorne Street, by calling 250-374-5483 or www.kamloopslive.com. Consider giving the 'Gift of the Arts" this year for Christmas. Tickets to the Mayor's Gala for the Arts, perhaps along with a handmade gift from The Gallery Store or tickets to a Kamloops Symphony performance or a Western Canada Theatre production make the perfect gift for the arts lover in your life.
